Vaults have been walking their impassioned electro-pop path for for some time now, building on the early success of "Cry No More", the faultless debut that caught our attention over 2 years ago now. Little was, and really still is, known about the brilliant London trio - Ben Vella, Barney Freeman and Blythe Pepino - but following-up with tracks like "Lifespan" and more recently the inspired "Overcome", it's incredibly clear that the Virgin/EMI-signed group have plenty more to come. "Midnight River" is their new, stand-alone single and moves them closer to the mainstream sounds of Florence + the Machine, thanks to the typically empowering vocal line, which cries out above tidy production with its infectious piano line and backing vocals. A recent support slot with the one to watch Jack Garratt, confirms this subtle realignment, before the band bring their remarkable live set to Heaven themselves on 13 April. -G.O'B
